Wellness Weavers is a series of weaving workshops on learning how to make Niuean crafts such as ili(fan), and foufou(head piece), with a big focus on well being.
“By reconnecting with our culture we strengthen our sense of identity and through talanoa in a space of learning, we also allow ourselves the opportunity to be present – in a world where it’s easy to dwell on the past or worry about the future.” – Jessie Atutolu-Tulisi
Jessie Atutolu-Tulisi is a Niuean, Tongan, and Samoan creative who finds connection to culture through craft, movement and community. Growing up as a mixed Pasifika person, they have always embraced the importance of being able to learn language and culture through the arts such as dance, weaving, and making traditional crafts. They are committed to sharing knowledge, celebrating creativity and creating open spaces for young mixed Pasifika peoples to explore and express their identities with pride.
