Writing Workshop
9 am – 4 pm Saturday 2 July.
Kelston Community Hub, 68 St Leonards Rd, Kelston
Are you a writer, or always wanted to write?
Raewyn Alexander’s fun, fast-paced, supportive creative writing workshop gives you tools to get more enjoyment from writing, improve skills, build confidence and overcome writer’s block. You’ll also discover how to get published.
The whole day workshop covers planning and writing stories, poetry techniques, using lists and diagrams, collaborative writing and creating flash fiction, (or short short stories). Lots of opportunity for discussion and advice, and – because there are often forgotten questions – Raewyn will answer participants’ questions for two weeks after the workshop, by email.
Cost for full day workshop:
Whau Residents $20 (Avondale, New Lynn, Kelston, New Windsor, Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay)
Others $30
Raewyn Alexander has been a paid, published writer since she was nine years old, with major success occurring from the 1990s onwards, after she grew up. Her work’s read all over the world. She’s published 16 books, won prizes, is included in New Zealand and overseas poetry anthologies. Arts practitioners have loved her enthralling workshops for decades, with a number of participants going on to their own successes, both in publication and prize-winning. Raewyn has a International Communication degree and lectures Narrative Writing at UNITEC.
