Funded by the Whau Local Board, Sounding La Rosa is the second in a series of musical events that celebrates the waterways, pathways and parks of the Whau. The first was held in Archibald Park in 2016.
Sounding La Rosa Workshop:
2 to 4.30pm
open to Whau youth ages 10 – 20.
No musical experience is required, only a willingness to experiment.
The workshop is taught by experienced Auckland percussionists and instrument makers Fraser Bruce and Ivan Mršić. It will cover drumming skills, making instruments out of found objects, and how to listen and improvise in response to the environment and the people you are playing with. At the end you will perform a short improvised piece to an audience. It will be fun and you’ll learn new skills and different ways of responding to the physical and audible world.
