“Open Homes is an agriCulture-supported community, building community resilience and regenerating a culture of abundance through growing and sharing food, knowledge and resources. Its vision is to be a generative social sculpture engaged in growing a village. We believe in an alternative economy built on gifting, exchange and sharing. This non-monetary economy is built on the concept of trust and reciprocity that we usually associate with our whanau, friends and the local community.
Our guiding principle is rooted from our Filipino core value of kapwa: our relationships, not only with our fellow human beings but with all of nature: birds and bees, microbes and worms, trees, rivers, air, sun and moon. It is a practice of reciprocity which is mirrored by whanaungatanga in Te Ao Maori.”
Open Homes is led by Charles and Grace Buenconsejo in South New Lynn. Follow them on instagram to find out how to participate or look out for the Open Homes sign. https://www.instagram.com/openhomesnz/
