Run-away elephants, ducklings that realise they are swans, Teddy-Bears discovering the joys of socialising, and Billy Goats that outsmart the troll gate will all be making an appearance in CLASSIC! a shadow puppet show for children taking place this school holidays.

Avondale resident, children’s entertainer and producer Lucy McCammon of Puppets for Poppets is delighted to bring a brand new puppetry and story-telling experience to the Whau area this July School Holidays.

She’ll be telling classic stories using the age-old tradition of shadow puppetry.

“These classic story-songs, though not so well known these days, were a special part of my own childhood, and they have stood the test of time.”

The show is being put on in Avondale and Kelston in the Whau for local residents and the tickets are a steal at $5 per person.

“I want to create a holiday experience which is easy to travel to and affordable for all families and which brings communities together.”

Lucy McCammon (Puppets for Poppets) is an experienced second generation puppeteer. Her previous shows have delighted audiences around Auckland and at our local festival – the Whau Arts Festival – well as nationally at The Christchurch Puppetry Festival, and Out of the Suitcase Festival in Wellington. She will be joined by her parents and mentors Mary and Kerry McCammon of Natural Magic theatre group, Christchurch based puppeteers who have performed professionally for over thirty years.
